Alaska Cruise

Alaska, “The Last Frontier” state, was a bucket list trip for Debra and me, and since we loved to cruise, we booked a 13-day Alaska cruise on the Celebrity Mercury for May 2010. The itinerary was round trip from Los Angeles, with port stops in Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, and Victoria, a day sailing the Inside Passage, and a handful of days at sea. We had great expectations, and I can say, without a doubt, that our cruise delivered what we hoped for and more – beautiful scenery, memorable experiences, and new friends!

On our second day at sea – we had three sea days from L.A. to Juneau, our first port of call – we celebrated Debra’s birthday. When we returned to our cabin late afternoon, Debra found a surprise from our children David and Jill – they arranged to have our cabin decorated. She loved it! We celebrated with dinner – rack of lamb for Debra – a show, and dancing at the disco.

The cruise ended with two more days at sea, as we sailed from Victoria to Los Angeles. It was an opportunity to hang out with people we met, eat, see a show, eat some more (!), and take stock of the absolutely wonderful time we had in The Last Frontier and City of Gardens!
