Titanic Belfast

Belfast, Northern Ireland (March 19, 2019) This was the last day of an eight-day tour of Ireland for Jill and me. It was jam-packed with sightseeing - Duncle Castle, Giant's Causeway, Belfast, and more.
My Heart Will Go On
~ Celine Dion, theme song from Titanic.
Titanic Belfast, which stands along the shore of River Lagen, is a dramatic, multi-story building. Clad in anodized aluminum and jutting out at various angles, the building's design evokes an image of the hulls of four ships. Looking up to the top, Jill and I could almost picture Leonardo DiCaprio holding Kate Winslet on the bow of the Titanic!

We went on a self-guided tour of the nine galleries. Through storyboards and interactive exhibits, Jill and I learned about Belfast's maritime history and the real story of the Titanic.
We loved the full-scale reconstruction of three cabins that represented first-, second-, and third- class accommodations. The first-class cabins were splendiferous!

A joint US-French expedition located the wreck of the Titanic in 1985, some 13,000 feet below the surface of the North Atlantic. Thousands of artifacts were recovered over the years.

Titanic Belfast was an interesting and unique experience!
