College Station, Texas (April 4, 2019) Debra and I were in this college town, home to Texas A&M (Go Aggies!), to tour the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum (Bush41, not "Dubya"). Dedicated in 1997, it contains more than 44 million official documents and private papers and thousands of artifacts and memorabilia.
We read many storyboards as we wandered through seven exhibits that presented the life and times of George Bush. This Bush quote best expressed the theme of his library: Any definition of a successful life must include serving others. Bush's life was a life of service to others, from Navy pilot in WWII to President of the United States (1989 - 1993), and later as a fundraiser for charitable causes and ambassador for goodwill. Our favorite exhibit was Family Traditions, a "scrapbook" look at Bush's childhood, his marriage to Barbara Pierce, and the childhoods of their children, presented through photos, personal letters, memorabilia, and more. The museum was powerful and impressive, and a nice look back at a great man! |

George Bush's burial site, which is located behind the library. Barbara Bush and their daughter Robin are also buried there.
