My Journey Through North Dakota

Frontier Village in Jamestown
North Dakota (August 1-8, 2021) Jill and I took four daughter-father trips the past couple of years. North Carolina. Ireland. New Mexico. Georgia/South Carolina. We traveled well together, and each of our trips was epic! So, I was not surprised when, a couple of months back, Jill suggested it was time for another trip.

“What do you have in mind?” I asked.

“Well,” she began, “I have an assignment in North Dakota from a travel magazine. Would you like to join me?”

Jill, you see, is a freelance journalist. She covers a wide range of topics, but travel is her favorite.

“North Dakota, huh?” I replied. “Never been there. What will we do?”

“I contacted the state tourism board, and they were excited,” Jill beamed. “They shared a sample itinerary of places to see and things to do in a four-city tour. I just forwarded it to you, so let me know what you think.”

I scanned the itinerary: Two days in Fargo, a day in Jamestown, two days in Minot, and two days in Bismarck. Art and heritage museums, state parks, frontier forts, and an Indian village. Cafes, diners, and restaurants. Breweries, a winery, and even a speakeasy!
“I’m all in!” I declared, as if I were playing Texas hold ‘em. And with that, we set our sights on a journey through North Dakota.

We had a great time! I look forward to sharing our experiences with you.
