A Florida Resort...and Two Cruises

"Dad, I was invited to sail on the world's largest cruise ship," Jill said one day a couple of months back.

The “world’s largest cruise ship” was Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Sea, with room for 7,600 guests and nearly 2,400 crew - 10,000 people, about the same number of folks that live in my hometown.

Yowza!

“And guess what,” she continued. “I can bring a guest! How’d you like to go?”

"Count me in!" I exclaimed. “By the way, how long is the cruise?”

“Three days,” she replied. “It’s a preview for journalists, influencers, and travel agents—folks who will promote travel on the Icon.”
Travel.
As much as you can.
As far as you can.
As long as you can.
Life’s not meant to be lived in one place.

"What else can we do to make the roundtrip flight worth our while?" I asked.

"I'll take care of that," Jill assured me...and she did.

Before long, our trip included a couple of days at Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, a three-night cruise on Allure of the Seas, and two one-night stays at hotels in Port Canaveral and Miami as we transitioned from one short getaway to the next.

I lived out of my suitcase, as each waypoint was too short to go through the process of unpacking and repacking. And I slept in seven beds over 13 nights—including two one-night stays at hotels in Phoenix on either end of our trip—which made me a bit of a vagabond.

Oh well, such is the life—sometimes, not always—of a frequent traveler!

I had a wonderful time throughout, especially on the Icon of the Seas. I look forward to sharing my experiences and memories with you.

My Stories, One Experience at a Time

The Icon of the Seas was...AWESOME!
Picture
What a treat it was to be among the first guests to sail on the world's largest cruise ship, the Icon of the Seas. And what a ship it was! 40 dining venues and bars, eight themed neighborhoods, three theaters, thrill rides, an artistic kinetic sculpture, and so much more. And all brand spanking new. It was an experience of a lifetime!

Our Perfect Day at CocoCay

Jill and I 'chilled and thrilled' on CocoCay, Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas - not once, but twice on back-to-back cruises. Did we have a good time? No. We had a GREAT time!

Great Memories On Board the Allure of the Seas
Picture
On the first of back-to-back three-night cruises, Jill and I sailed on the Allure of the Seas, the seventh largest cruise ship in the world. Our time on the ship was all about R&R, and I have great memories of the experiences we had. Three experiences stand out—Central Park, Scotch Tasting Party, and Chef’s Table—and all were fantastical!
